Purple Brew & Red Goatee

Our second brew day hosted by Sara was quite fun and I think we'll continue to do a monthly brew day. Let me know if you're interested in joining us. Depending on where and who hosts it many are welcome who want to learn or who brew or who just want an excuse to drink the good stuff.
So the Worthog brewed up a Kölsch while I was gearing up for the KC Irish Fest Stout competition with an Oatmeal 'Raisin' Stout. That's right, get ready KC. Check out that Oatmealy froth on the mash! For strictly fun and show I threw in a dozen raisins in the mash. I'm not kidding when I say the wort that was transferred was PURPLE! Of course in the carboy it looks pure black but if you thin the brew out you can clearly see the dissolved raisin skin purple in the brew. Pretty cool. It smelled delicious and I can't wait to try that and the Kölsch.

Only one and half injuries during the whole event. Sara was being the good host by patching up my leg and since there were no Scooby Doo band-aids then we had to make do with a smiley face with a red beard. The other half of an injury was everyone who was trying to help me squeeze the wort out of my Macgruber Mash Bag. Sorry for the scalding liquid everyone.

Do you think it'll have a purple head? Because that would look awesome.

I had plans to be there, but I ended up brewing that day also. The stout sounds interesting. Good Luck!

I'll save some of it for the next Brew Day at the end of August. I don't think it will have a purple head, but the name "Purple Headed Monster" did get mentioned.

BTW, I would definitely like to attend the next brew date!
